Go Pro를 구입하려 갔다가 Drift 라는 제품을 발견했습니다. 아직 신생업체라서 생소한 이름이더군요. 헬멧캠으로 유명한 Go Pro나 Contour 를 흉내낸 짝퉁인가 싶어 처음엔 관심밖이었습니다.
하지만 Go Pro 1080 에 LCD Pack 까지 하면 $500이 넘더군요. 여기에 세금까지 붙이면 500불 중반이 됩니다. 반면에 Drift는 자체 LCD 장착형이라 눈으로 보면서 영상을 찍거나 찍은 뒤 바로 확인할 수 있는 장점이 있어서 좋더군요. 1080 HD 동영상 촬영이 가능하고 사진은 5MP가 가능합니다. 기능도 고프로와 별 차이가 없습니다. 가격도 착해서 $225.

단점이라면 크기가 Go Pro에 비해서 거의 2배 가까이 큽니다. 무게는 약간 더 나가는 것 같습니다. 하지만 헬멧 위에 달면 크기나 무게는 큰 차이를 느끼지 못할 것 같네요.
또한 Go Pro가 헬멧에 장착하면 왠지 텔레토비 같은 모양이어서 우습게 보이는 반면 Drift는 나름 괜찮은 모양입니다. 제 관점엔요.^^
또 하나의 단점은 water resistant 입니다. 생활방수는 되지만 완전방수가 아니라는 얘기죠. 습설이 많이 내리거나 비가 오는 날엔 사용할 수 없습니다. 하지만 스키를 위주로 촬영한다면 굳이 이런 날 촬영할 일은 많지 않을 것 같습니다. 나중에 불편하면 방수케이스를 구입하면 될 것 같구요.
